Vol. 375 No. 6

Written Answers. - Illegal Parking.

76.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will introduce the appropriate regulations and make the necessary resources available to ensure that there is an immediate cessation of illegal parking on Suffolk Street, Dublin 2, among other streets in the Dublin city area, which, despite the best efforts of traffic wardens continues unabated on a daily basis, causing major congestion in the area.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the regulations controlling parking in the area in question are considered to be adequate and are actively enforced by the Garda and by traffic wardens. The authorities point out, however, that some congestion is unavoidable at present, particularly at peak hours, because of road works in progress in the Grafton Street-Suffolk Street area. The Garda authorities are satisfied that enforcement of the regulations is generally satisfactory.
