asked the Minister for the Marine the exact nature of the chemicals or the composition of the substances discharged into the sea under licence by a company (details supplied) in County Cork.
Written Answers. - Substances Discharged into the Sea.
193.
The material dumped in the sea by this company, under permit from my Department, comprises waste derived from the manufacture (by fermentation, recovery, refining and-or synthesis) of organic chemicals.
A report on the environmental effects of the dumping is currently being finalised by UCG under contract from this Department. The preliminary fundings of the report indicate that the environment is not suffering adversely from the dumping operation.
