Vol. 377 No. 3

Written Answers. - Glenmore By-Pass Funding.

110.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange to have finance made available to Kilkenny County Council for the commencement of the new motorway between New Ross, County Wexford and Waterford city which passes through Glenmore in County Kilkenny; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

On the 28 July 1986 and 9 November 1987, compulsory purchase orders were confirmed for the acquisition of lands required for the Glenmore By-Pass.

Road grant provisions for the scheme to date amount to £1.447 million, including a grant allocation of £0.150 million which I have provided for 1988. These grant provisions relate mainly to the cost of design and property acquisitions.

The timing of construction of the scheme is being considered in the context of the preparation of a blueprint for road development which I intend to publish within the next few months.
