Written Answers - Drugs Refund — Long Term Illness Schemes.

asked the Minister for Health if it is his intention to continue the two schemes for refunding the cost of drugs as they are; if he proposes any changes to either of the schemes; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

asked the Minister for Health if he will make a statement on the present position in relation to the review of the long term illness scheme and the refund of drugs scheme.

asked the Minister for Health if he would confirm that sufferers of cysticfibrosis will continue to be eligible on a non-means test basis for the long term illness card; that no changes in the eligibility for the long term illness card have been made in recent times or is contemplated; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I will take Questions Nos. 52, 71 and 201 together.

The Deputies will be aware from the recent Budget Statement of my colleague, the Minister for Finance, that the Government will be providing sufficient financial resources in 1988 to enable the services under both the drugs refund scheme and the long term illness scheme to continue at their present levels.
