Vol. 379 No. 1

Written Answers. - Cavan New General Hospital.

42.

asked the Minister for Health the progress which has been made to date with regard to equipping the new general hospital at Lisdarn, County Cavan; if the programme for equipping is on schedule; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The completion of the equipping of the new general hospital at Lisdarn, County Cavan is currently the subject of discussion between officers of my Department and officials of the North Eastern Health Board. The matter is being considered in the context of the implications for capital funding and annual revenue costs associated with a development of this nature.

I should point out that over £1.15 million has already been spent on equipment for the hospital and this equipment has been installed. I am hopeful of an early conclusion to the discussions between my Department and the board facilitating the completion of the equipping of this new hospital on a phased basis.
