Vol. 379 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

105.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason for the delay in payment of a farm development grant to a person (details supplied) in County Clare where an inspection was carried out and approval issued in October 1987.

109.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Clare will be paid a grant for drainage work which was approved in October 1987.

As Questions Nos. 105 and 109 relate to the same person, I propose to take them together.

Three claims under the farm improvement programme for payment of grants of £1,652, £2,480 and £1,200 respectively have been received and will be paid as soon as practicable. All claims under the programme are dealt with strictly in order of receipt. Payments are being phased in such a way as to ensure adherence to the amount provided in the Vote. Consequently, there is some delay in making grant payments.

106.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will receive payment of a farm installation grant; his views on whether there has been an inordinate delay in this case; and the reason for the delay.

The processing of the application in this case has been completed and the applicant has been deemed eligible to participate in the scheme. Payment of the premium will be made as soon as practicable and I will inform the Deputy at the appropriate time.

All premia are paid strictly in the order in which eligibility is established. Payments are being phased in such a way as to ensure adherence to the amount provided in the Vote. Consequently, there is some delay in payment of the premia.

107.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a person (details supplied) in County Wexford will be issued with his entitlements under the calf premium, beef premium and suckling cow subsidy schemes; and, if so, when.

The person named has been paid his 1987 EC calf, suckler cow and special beef premium schemes grants already.

108.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a farm development grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Clare.

A claim under the farm improvement programme for payment of a grant of £4,394 has been received and will be paid as soon as practicable. All claims under the programme are dealt with strictly in order of receipt. Payments are being phased in such a way as to ensure adherence to the amount provided in the Vote. Consequently, there is some delay in making grant payments.

110.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason for the delay in payment of calf premia, beef premia and a headage grant to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford; and when payment of same will be made.

A field staff vacancy in the Waterford area has caused some delays in processing headage and premium payments. The person named, however, will be paid her 1987 EC calf premium, special calf premium, special beef premium and disadvantaged areas schemes grants shortly.
