Vol. 382 No. 7

Written Answers - Dublin Corporation Housing Scheme.

49.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will make a statement on the plans to construct local authority housing on the Aughrim Street/Halliday Road/Ostman Place area of Dublin 7, which finalisation of outstanding acquisitions and the implementation of the housing redevelopment on the site is contingent on the necessary finance being made available by his Department, and when this finance will be made available.

Some additional information requested from Dublin Corporation to enable my Department to complete their examination of the proposals submitted for this housing scheme is awaited.

On 24 May, 1988 my Department approved the acquisition of sites under the Reference Numbers 5, 6, 8 and 14 of the Aughrim Street/Halliday Road Area Compulsory Purchase Order, 1982, subject to certain conditions. In accordance with current procedures applying to all housing authorities the question of financing housing site acquisitions from Central Funds does not arise until a tender has been approved by my Department for the construction of a local authority housing scheme on the particular site.
