Vol. 382 No. 10

Written Answers. - School Transport.

120.

asked the Minister for Education if she will end the discrimination against pupils of multi-denominational primary schools who do not enjoy the same distance eligibility criteria for school transport as the all-Irish schools by extending the same school transport rights to them.

Transport entitlements for multi-denominational national schools are determined according to the normal conditions of the primary school transport scheme. The concession under which a child's nearest all-Irish school may be deemed his/her appropriate school for transport purposes, if he/she so wishes, exists as an aid to the Government's policy of restoring and fostering the Irish language.
