Vol. 383 No. 1

Written Answers. - Garda Foot Patrol in Dublin.

110.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will arrange for a Garda to be put on foot patrol in the Parnell Street, Dublin 1 area between O'Connell Street and Summerhill particularly during the hours 6.00-7.00 p.m. where a number of chemists shops are experiencing a series of attacks; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The precise arrangements for the policing of particular areas are a matter for the Garda authorities who have informed me that the Parnell Street area receives regular attention from foot and mobile patrols operated by both uniform and plain clothes units from Fitzgibbon Street Station. The local gardaí maintain close contact with the business community in the neighbourhood and the concerns expressed by local chemists have been brought to the attention of members on patrol in the area.
