Vol. 383 No. 4

Written Answers. - Diversion of School Bus.

147.

asked the Minister for Education if she will arrange for the diversion of the school bus through Clondrohid village, County Cork to collect two children (details supplied) who are attending Queen of the Angels School, Cork and whose parents have no means of transport to take them to the pick-up point which is almost three miles away.

The children in question reside 35 miles from the school and in the ordinary way transport facilities on a route service would not be available to them on a daily basis. However, transport facilities have been offered to the children on a service which operates within 2.5 miles of their homes. The standard of service available to them is very reasonable, given their distance from school.

It is regretted that it would not be open to the Department, in the circumstances, to provide the additional facilities for the children, as proposed by the Deputy.
