asked the Minister for Finance the expenditure provided for in the 1989 Estimates for arterial drainage; a breakdown of where this money will be spent; the amount provided for arterial drainage in the 1988 Estimates; the projected outcome of actual expenditure on arterial drainage in 1988; the amount spent in 1988 to date; and where it was spent.

All options are being examined at present to ensure that the 1988 outturn will be as close as possible to the estimate.

asked the Minister for Finance the number of names of the rivers/catchment areas where arterial drainage is in progress; in the case of each such river/catchment area (1) the date on which work started (2) the estimated date of completion (3) the total cost to date (4) the total estimated cost of completing the job and (5) the amount of the total expenditure that has been or will be recouped from the EC for each project.
