asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the contributions which have been made to the International Fund under the Anglo-Irish Agreement; and the prospects there are for new contributors to the fund.
Written Answers. - International Fund.
35.
The most significant contributor to the International Fund for Ireland to date has been the United States with contributions so far of $130 million. I am pleased to say that the US Congress has recently agreed a further contribution for 1990 of $20 million.
The European Community has contributed 15 million MECU in 1989 and has committed a similar contribution for each of the next two years. Canada has committed 10 million Canadian dollars over a ten year period. New Zealand has made a once-off contribution of 300,000 New Zealand dollars.
The total of these contributions is equivalent to approximately IR £119 million.
I am not at this stage aware of any prospective new contributions to the fund.
