Vol. 396 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Defence Forces Personnel.

Michael Bell

Question:

23 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Defence the number of officers by rank, command and corps who are serving in an acting capacity as at 1 January 1990; the number who are serving in the acting rank (a) from nought to three years and (b) from three to five years; the number of officers who reverted to their previous rank since 1980; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

At present 274 officers of the Permanent Defence Force are serving in acting ranks. The remainder of the information requested is being compiled and will be forwarded to the Deputy at an early date.

Could it be made available in the record of the House or circulated?

I will circulate it as a bonus to all Deputies present at Question Time today.
