Under Social Welfare Regulations S.I. 87 of 1979, the Department makes a refund of PRSI to certain personnel of the permanent defence force each year. In turn, the Department receives a refund of PRSI from the Revenue Commissioners which, when taken from the gross figure in column two gives the nett figure in column three. The refund for the 1987-88 tax year will be made in 1990 and for the 1988-89 tax year in 1991.
