Written Answers. - Dublin Military Barracks Sale.

Question:

65 Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for Defence if he will outline his plans for the disposal of the military barracks site at Griffith Barracks, South Circular Road, Dublin 6; if it is his intention to lease this site on the open market for sale to the highest bidder; if he will further outline the relationship between his Department and the car importing company who are currently using the site for car storage; and if leasehold problems are preventing the immediate sale of this site.

The Commissioners of Public Works are at present finalising arrangements for disposal of this former barracks property which it is proposed to offer for sale on the open market.

Permission has been granted to the company in question to store cars at an agreed fee on the site, on a weekly basis.

A number of matters affecting title to the property are being resolved in consultation with the Chief State Solicitor's Office.
