Vol. 399 No. 10

Written Answers. - Air Traffic Fees.

Proinsias De Rossa

Question:

29 Pronsias De Rossa asked the Minister for Tourism and Transport if foreign military aircraft passing through Irish air space are charged fees for air control services; if he will outline the fees charged; the total revenue raised from these fees in the last 12 months; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Apart from certain categories, most aircraft flying through Irish airspace are charged for the provision of en-route air navigation services. The costs involved are recouped on Ireland's behalf by Eurocontrol under the multilateral agreement relating to route charges. Under the latter agreement, Ireland, in common with most other countries in the system, do not charge for flights by Irish or foreign military aircraft.
