Vol. 399 No. 10

Written Answers. - EC Rail Grant.

Peter Barry

Question:

71 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if, in view of the beneficial effects on North-South relations of an efficient rail link, he will ensure as cochairman of the Anglo Irish Conference that the Government will provide funds to utilise the £40 million EC grant.

The question of upgrading the Dublin-Belfast rail link, including the possibility of EC funds being made available, is currently under examination. It is likely that the matter will be discussed at an early meeting of the Anglo-Irish Intergovernmental Conference.
