Vol. 408 No. 6

Written Answers. - Howth Harbour Facilities.

Michael Joe Cosgrave

Question:

42 Mr. Cosgrave asked the Minister for the Marine if, in view of the great numbers of people who visit Howth Harbour, County Dublin, which has now become a tourist attraction and which is now more accessible to the public with the excellent DART service, he will, as a matter of urgency, provide proper toilet facilities or renovate the existing facilities which are currently closed on the west pier of Howth; and if he will provide such facilities at the earliest possible date.

There are no plans by my Department at the moment to provide public toilet facilities on the west pier.

The provision of such public facilities in the general area of the harbour is normally a matter for the local authority in the first instance. There are, of course, already public toilets at the entrance to the east pier.
