Question:59 Mrs. Taylor-Quinn asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he can give an assurance to farmers in disadvantaged areas that beef premia and suckler grants for 1991 will be paid before Christmas.

I am not in a position to give an assurance that all payments due under these schemes will be made before Christmas. This has never been feasible. I can, however, assure the Deputies that as many payments as possible will be made before the end of the year.
