Question:

45 Mr. Durkan asked the Taoiseach if he will outline the total number of persons currently unemployed in County Kildare; the number (1) under 25 (2) over 25 and under 40 (3) over 40 and under 50 (4) over 50 and under 60 and (5) over 60 age group; the number of (a) male and (b) female in each case.

There were 7,079 persons on the live register in employment exchanges in County Kildare on 25 October 1991. Of these 4,616 were males and 2,463 females.

An age breakdown of the live register is compiled in respect of the third Friday of April and October each year. The most recently published data relates to 19 April 1991. The precise age breakdown requested by the Deputy is not available. The following table provides the most comparable information.
