124 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Social Welfare if free bus pass cover, under the free travel scheme operated by the Department of Social Welfare, will be extended to the private bus operations over the Christmas period, in their new night time operation.
The free travel scheme for pensioners and incapacitated people applies to scheduled services and not to special or temporary services. The special late night services to be provided by Bus Átha Cliath and some private bus operators are special arrangements which will operate on a strictly cash only basis.
