Question:

25 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for the Marine if he will outline (1) the number of prosecutions which have been made in the last year for illegal coarse fishing, (2) the number waiting to be taken to court and (3) the counties where the illegal fishing took place.

The central and seven regional fisheries boards have statutory responsibility for the enforcement of the fisheries laws. This is an operational matter for the boards and I have no function in the matter. Consequently the information sought by the Deputy is not available in my Department.
