Vol. 427 No. 4

Written Answers. - County Louth Court Venues.

Michael Bell

Question:

39 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Justice the plans, if any, she has to abolish court sittings in Ardee and Dunleer, County Louth; if her attention has been drawn to the fact that the abolition of these sittings would create problems for the general public and all professional people and staff in the mid-Louth area in view of the already overcrowded and inadequate conditions which exist at courts (details supplied) in County Louth, and the extra cost to the general public which would occur if these sittings were abolished; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

While the question of rationalisation of District Court venues has been under review in my Department for some time now, I have no immediate proposals for the abolition of the District Court sittings at Ardee and Dunleer, County Louth.
