Vol. 427 No. 6

Written Answers. - Irish Refugee Council.

Proinsias De Rossa

Question:

109 Proinsias De Rossa asked the Minister for Justice if Government funding will be provided for the Irish Refugee Council in 1993.

I received representations recently on behalf of the Irish Refugee Council with regard to funding but I was not in a position to respond positively. Assistance to refugees in Ireland is provided through the Irish Refugee Agency which was established in July 1991 by a decison of the Government. The agency operates under a board appointed by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, who also provides funding by way of an annual grant-in-aid.
