Vol. 428 No. 5

Written Answers. - Disturbance at Shelbourne Hotel.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

98 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Justice if she will confirm that the gardaí were called to the Shelbourne Hotel as a result of a disturbance on the night of 6-7 March 1993; if the gardaí have completed their investigations into the incident; if a file on the incident has been made with regard to possible prosecutions; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

It is not the practice for the Minister for Justice to give detailed information to the House about individual Garda investigations except in singular instances where the circumstances are so exceptional that such a course is deemed to be appropriate.

All I propose to say in this case is that I have been informed by the Garda authorities that the matter was the subject of a Garda investigation and a file on the matter has been referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions for directions.
