I am informed by the Garda authorities that there is a Garda clinic in the Coolock District, based at Donaghmede Shopping Centre. They report that this clinic is providing a satisfactory service to the local community and they have no plans to change this arrangement.
The present strength of Coolock and Raheny Garda stations is 98 and 58 respectively. I am informed that there is one sergeant and seven gardaí on full-time community policing duties in Coolock and one sergeant and ten gardaí on similar duties in Raheny. In addition, there are three Juvenile Liaison Officers based in Coolock and two in Raheny. These members are closely involved with local community groups, schools, youth clubs and other youth-related activities in these areas. The provisional crime figures for both the Coolock and Raheny sub-Districts for 1992 show a decrease over the previous year.
The Garda authorities inform me that they are satisfied that the current policing arrangements for Coolock and Raheny are operating satisfactorily. However, they are keeping the situation there under continuing review.
