Vol. 431 No. 8

Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 30.

I request leave to move the Adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 30 in order to consider the continuing deadlock in Dublin Bus. There have been no Labour Court hearings, no negotiations and no Government initiatives. As we approach the start of the third week, the dispute threatens to disrupt business in the city, those doing school examinations and the holiday weekend. Another week will pass before this House will get another opportunity to consider this issue.

Having considered the matter fully I do not consider it to be one contemplated by Standing Order 30 and, accordingly, I cannot grant leave to move the motion.

Sir, will you allow a Private Notice Question on this matter later in the day?

That matter was the subject of a Private Notice Question this week and the Deputy has many other ways of pursuing the matter.

People are still walking.

The blisters are rising.
