Question:54 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for Justice the number of gardaí in the west Galway district at 1 January 1993; and the number of gardaí in the west Galway district at 1 April 1994.

The Garda authorities inform me that the manpower in the Galway West District on 1 April 1994 was 325, an increase of two gardaí on the strength of 323 on 1 January 1993 and an increase of 16 on the figure of 1 January 1992. In addition, 36 non-attested gardaí are serving in the district at present and, with effect from 13 May 1994, a further three fully attested gardaí will take up duty there.
