Vol. 442 No. 3

Written Answers. - Gambling and Casinos.

Seán Haughey

Question:

96 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Justice the plans, if any, the Government has to change the law to allow for the operation of gambling casinos in this State.

The legislation governing gaming in this country is contained in the Gaming and Lotteries Acts, 1956-1986.

As I have previously indicated to this House, I could not undertake to indicate by way of reply to a parliamentary question, what legislative proposals, if any, I might have in mind in any particular area. Any such proposals would be brought before the Government for consideration and approval before being announced in the ordinary way.
