Question:

119 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Social Welfare the projected total income to the Social Insurance Fund from employees contributions and employers contributions in the full year to 4 April 1995.

Estimates of receipts and expenditure are prepared on a calendar year basis. Detailed information on the income and expenditure of the Social Insurance Fund is published each year in an appendix to the Vote for Social Welfare in the Revised Estimates for Public Services. Income to the fund in the year ending 31 December 1994 is estimated at £1,687 million, comprising £1,106 million from employers' contributions, £500 million from employees' contributions and £81 million from contributions of self-employed persons.
