Vol. 463 No. 2

Written Answers. - Southern Border Counties Funding.

Bertie Ahern

Question:

28 Mr. B. Ahern asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the funds from EU, IFI and other funds available for the southern Border counties; the funds that are additional or consequent on the peace process; and the purposes for which they have been or will be used in each of the years from 1994 to 1996. [3928/96]

I understand that my colleagues, the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Minister for Finance, have provided information to the Deputy in relation to INTERREG, IFI and peace and reconciliation funding in their replies to Parliamentary Questions No. 9 of 7 March and No. 38 of 12 March respectively.

While I am party to both the INTERREG and the Peace and Reconciliation programmes. I have no particular funds within by Department specifically for the Border counties. Projects seeking funding in these counties under schemes operated by my Department are selected on the basis of the same criteria as are applied to projects from other areas within the State, or within the Gaeltacht in the case of Gaeltacht schemes.
