Question:241 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Justice the funding, if any, that will be made available by her Department under the EU peace initiative fund. [10455/96]

Applications for funding from the Special EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation may be made to bodies who are independent of the Government, namely the intermediary funding bodies, as well as number of specified Government Departments. As the various headings in the support programme do not encompass activities in the criminal justice area, my Department is not one of the Departments to which applications can be made under the programme.
However, should any voluntary body in the criminal justice area submit an application as specified, I will endeavour to support their application.
