324 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Marine if he will extend the current fishing season on the Pammerston River, County Mayo from July to 15 August 1996, in view of the fact that the month of July is the peak period for fishing. [13212/96]
Numerous requests are received each year for extensions to both commercial and rod angling seasons for salmon fishing at various locations around the country. Future decisions on the lengths of salmon fishing seasons will be informed primarily by the recommendations of the Salmon Management Task Force which I am currently considering with a view to finalising a strategic framework for salmon management overall.
