Written Answers. - People with Physical Disabilities.
Limerick East): Services for people with physical disabilities are generally categorised as either children or adult services. Adult services cater for those aged 18 to 65. Information on the number of places available in each health board for adults with physical disabilities provided by the health boards and voluntary organisation is as follows:

Note 1: Training places only. In addition, day places available throughout the board's area.
Note 2: 10 residential places will be provided in the North-Eastern Health Board by the end of the year, otherwise services are provided outside the health board's area.
Note 3: Residential and respite places.
Note 4: Considerable number of day places throughout the Board's area for young adults with physical disabilities.
Note 5: Provision is being made for the development of a young chronic sick unit at Cashel-Clonmel which will consist of 12 residential, 2 respite and 25 day places.
Note 6: 48 of these places are for both physical disability and mental handicap.
As the Deputy will be aware, the Review Group on Services for People with a Physical or Sensory Disability is currently finalising its report. This report will provide a blue-print for the future development of services.
