Vol. 469 No. 1

Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting List.

Michael Ring

Question:

179 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be called for a hip operation in view of the fact that this person is in her eighties and is in severe pain. [16166/96]

Limerick East): Inquiries have been made from the Western Health Board regarding the person concerned. The board has confirmed that this person is on its orthopaedic surgeon's waiting list since 15 July 1996. The board regrets that at this stage it is unable to provide an exact date for the appointment.

The board has suggested that if the person concerned feels that her condition has deteriorated she should contact her general practitioner who is best placed to take up the matter with the consultant directly.
