Vol. 469 No. 1

Written Answers. - Accident Black Spots.

James McDaid

Question:

326 Dr. McDaid asked the Minister for the Environment the number of accident black spots there are in each county in Ireland. [16302/96]

Responsibility for the improvement and maintenance of roads, including the identification and treatment of accident black spots, is a matter for the individual road authorities and information on their number and location is not collected on a national basis. However, my Department has in recent months published a guide to road safety engineering which provides detailed advice to road authorities in assessing and treating road accident black spots. Copies of the guide are available in the Oireachtas Library.
