Vol. 469 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Mayo Land Rights.

Michael Ring

Question:

611 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry whether the land not being used for turbary rights will be returned to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [16151/96]

The allocation and extinguishment of turbary rights by the Land Commission are matters reserved by law to the Lay Commissioners.

However, I understand that the Land Commission inspectorate have examined the matter and intend to prepare a scheme for the disposal of the turbary rights on hands. This scheme will be submitted to the Commissioners on its completion. The interest of the person concerned will be considered by the Commissioners at that time.
