Éamon Ó Cuív

Question:

229 Éamon Ó Cuív asked the Minister for Education if she will appoint a resource teacher to a school (details supplied) in County Galway in view of the fact that there is a pupil attending this school who has very special learning needs. [12865/97]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 186, 187, 200, 201 and 229 together.

No additional remedial teachers were appointed to primary schools in 1996. I am currently considering the possibility of making additional remedial and resource teacher posts available to primary schools for the forthcoming school year.

I can assure the Deputies that the needs of the schools to which they refer will be considered in this context.
