655 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Education and Science the proposals, if any, he has to amalgamate the two schools for the blind in Dublin; the stage plans are at for this amalgamation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21445/98]

The issue to which the Deputy refers is being considered in the context of proposals for the development of a national centre for the education of visually impaired children, which are currently being considered by my Department.
