253 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the number of animals slaughtered at the farm of a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; the reason for the slaughter; if the owner was offered fodder aid; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5726/99]

Forty animals were removed for slaughter from the farm in question and two animals were euthanised on that farm on foot of a court order. The person in question did not qualify for payment under the fodder schemes but had received headage/premia payments in November 1998.
