278 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Education and Science the moneys allocated to the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology in respect of infrastructal improvements and facility expansion; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10944/99]
A sum of over £1 million has been allocated in 1999 in respect of capital contractual commitments at the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology. My Department's planning and building unit is currently engaged in discussions with the institute on the advancement of a major campus development building programme with an estimated cost of in excess of £8 million. Decisions as to the level and nature of capital investment in institutes of technology are subject to an ongoing consultative process between the institutes' authorities and officials of my Department.
