Liz McManus

Question:

206 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of geriatric beds in Cork by county and city and public and private beds. [11366/99]

The information sought by the Deputy is not readily available in my Department. However, I have obtained the following information from the Southern Health Board:–

Cork County

Cork City

Acute beds

24(Bantry)

25(CUH)

Long Stay beds inHealth Board Facilities

694

140

Beds in External Institutions

213

208

Total

931

373

In addition the Southern Health Board has two welfare homes at Fermoy and Youghal with 30 beds each. There are also 741 private nursing home beds in Cork County and 319 in Cork city. The above figures do not include psycho-geriatric beds.
