Vol. 507 No. 3

Written Answers. - Juvenile Offences.

Jack Wall

Question:

177 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the provision, if any, his Department has in place for young offenders with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16850/99]

All young offenders committed to prison receive a routine medical assessment. Where any concerns arise, it is open to the prison doctor to seek specialist psychiatric or other advice. It is my policy to facilitate specialist medical advice in relation to any offender who, in the opinion of the prison doctor, requires it.
