Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Coveney – the initiation by the ESB of legal proceedings against Cork County Council relating to the erecting of pylons in Cork harbour from Aghada to Raffeen; (2) Deputy Seán Ryan – the need for additional caretaking services at Pope John Paul national school and St. Sylvester's infant national school, Malahide; (3) Deputy Gormley – the need to reconsider the removal from health stores of a range of health products, including St. John's Wort; (4) Deputy Perry – the granting of city status to Sligo in the millennium year; (5) Deputy Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny) – the need to provide funding to introduce the Arrow train service to include Carlow and Athy to Dublin; (6) Deputy Jim Higgins – the circumstances in which a prisoner in his mid-twenties was found hanging in his cell at Wheatfield Prison; (7) Deputy Rabbitte – the need for the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development to respond to the allegations made on the RTE “Prime Time” programme on the Emerald Meats affair, especially in view of the implications for the taxpayer; (8) Deputy Stanton – the need to enable escorts to be employed on school buses transporting children with special needs to and from school; (9) Deputy Flanagan – the Minister's involvement and that of the State in the High Court on 3 Nov ember in a case of the suit of a Sligo stonemason; (10) Deputy Sargent – the need to extend the disabled drivers and disabled passengers tax refund scheme, 1994, to cover blind car passengers; and (11) Deputy Broughan – the urgent need to provide substantial resources in the budget for youth education, sport and leisure to support the anti-joyriding task force in Dublin North-East.

The matters raised by Deputies Rabbitte, Perry, Jim Higgins and Flanagan have been selected for discussion.
