Vol. 513 No. 4

Written Answers. - Civilian Staffing.

John McGuinness

Question:

121 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Defence the proposals, if any, he has to fill the position of carpenter at James Stephen Barracks, Kilkenny; and the plans, if any, he has to restore the number of carpenters to four which was the full complement. [2703/00]

I would refer the Deputy to my answer to his previous question taken on Wednesday 7 October 1998, in relation to this issue. It is still considered that the existing level of staffing of civilian employees in James Stephen's Barracks, Kilkenny, remains adequate to meet the normal routine maintenance tasks likely to arise. Accordingly, there are no proposals at present to recruit a carpenter at the barracks.
