Question:

291 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science if the facilities available at Coláiste Chiaráin, Leixlip, County Kildare, are in need of extension, improvement or upgrading; his plans, if any, in respect of this; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12040/00]

While a number of minor improvement works are in progress at Coláiste Chiaráin, Leixlip, an application for additional accommodation has not been received from the school's managerial authorities.

292 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in respect of the provision of facilities required at Scoil Uí Fhiaich, Maynooth, County Kildare; the progress in respect of this project in the past two years; the anticipated progress in respect of this issue; the timetable for this project; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12041/00]

As I indicated in a reply to a previous parliamentary question on 9 March my Department's technical staff are assessing the situation regarding the accommodation needs of the school in question. The school authorities will be informed of the position as soon as possible having regard to the large number of school building projects on hand within my Department.

293 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in respect of the facilities required at Scoil Uí Riada, Kilcock, County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12042/00]

As I indicated in replies to previous parliamentary questions on 8 February and 9 March architectural planning for the facilities in question is under way at present. It is not possible to say at this point when construction will commence.

294 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science if his Department has undertaken any assessment or made any projections in respect of the current or anticipated requirements in respect of buildings, facilities and equipment at St. Patrick's College, Naas, County Kildare; if he has undertaken any recent examination or reached any conclusions in respect of this matter; his proposals in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The building unit of my Department has an application for an extension to St Patrick's college, Naas.

Architectural planning of the proposed extension has commenced. A site suitability report has been received and is under consideration in my Department at present.

295 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in respect of the provision of the extra facilities at Scoil Mhuire, Clane, County Kildare; the full extent and nature of the facilities being provided; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12044/00]

As indicated in replies to parliamentary questions on 8 and 15 February 2000, this project is under construction.

The facilities to be provided include general classrooms, specialist accommodation, physical education hall, and ancillary accommodation.
