329 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Health and Children the average cost of employing an extra public health nurse. [23179/00]
I propose to take Questions Nos. 265 and 329 together.
The initial pay costs associated with the employment of a newly-qualified public health nurse commencing at the minimum of the salary scale would be £28,230 per annum, based on an employer's PRSI contribution of 12.2%. The total pay costs involved in employing a public health nurse at the maximum of the scale would be £33,592 per annum, inclusive of employer's PRSI contribution. There would also be the usual non-pay costs in respect of accommodation, telephone, travel etc., which would vary from post to post.
