172 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the position with regard to an appeal by a person (details supplied) in County Galway in respect of his suckler cow grant; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4841/01]

The herd owner lodged an appeal concerning his 1999 suckler cow premium application. The headage and premia appeals unit examined the appeal and notified the herd owner on 16 February 2001 that his appeal was unsuccessful.
