417 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science the terms of reference of the teaching commission; the proposed membership; and if he will ensure that the community and voluntary sector is represented and that the terms of reference include issues relating to equality and inclusion in education. [4590/01]
There has been no formal announcement on the establishment of a teaching commission. However, I have indicated that I would favour a commission on education and learning for life which would have a broad and supportive remit and am developing proposals in this regard. The proposed terms of reference and membership of such a commission have not been finalised but the Deputy may be assured that inclusion in education and the participation of the voluntary sector will be among my priorities.
