Question:116 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the position in relation to funding for a pier (details supplied) in County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4489/01]
Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources (Mr. Fahey): The pier in question is owned by Donegal County Council and its repair and maintenance is the responsibility of the local authority in the first instance.
I have received a request from Donegal County Council for grant aid in respect of works, costing £600,000, to construct a sheet pile wall outside the existing pier face. This request for funding is being considered in the context of the overall development requirements at harbours generally.
